Books in kindle collections do not show as present on device in calibre

If an ebook is added to a Kindle collection, when the physical kindle is USB connected to Calibre, Calibre does not reliably show the book as present on the device. This results in users accidentally adding a book multiple times to a kindle. I've seen this for a couple of years on more than one kindle device and on more than one machine running Calibre (I have multiple kindles and Calibre instances). As a result, I often cannot tell if a book is on my Kindle without first disconnecting it from USB and searching for it by hand on the device.

As I said, multiple kindles. Right now, both Paperwhite and Voyage. Voyage is my primary one though.

Two different OS X machines, two different kindles... If I add a book into a collection, Calibre does not reliably detect it. Occasionally it does but normally it does not.

I dont have a voyage but I cannot replicate this on my PaperWhite and OS
X combo. Indeed, I dont see how collections would make a difference to
calibre at all, since it does not know anything about collections on the
Kindle. It just scans the Kindle drive for all ebook files in known
formats and displays them. Are you sure the book is not showing up?
Maybe it is listed using some metadata different from what you expect.
Look at the number of books calibre is reporting to be on the kindle
before and after moving a book into a collection.

You can also run calibre in debug mode (Click the preferences menu and
choose restart in debug mode) and it will give you copious output
about its connection to the kindle.
