Calibre error communicating with Kobo

Bug Description
Running Calibre V2.77 on Macbook air and get the following error message:
calibre, version 2.77.0
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device
CantOpenError: unable to open database file
Traceback (most recent call last):

This is the first time I have tried connecting my Kobo to a MacBook, previously I used a PC Running Ubuntu
Thanks for the prompt reply.
Having logged the bug, I checked that the Kobo still connects to my Ubuntu
PC which it does. Uploaded books to the Kobo. Not sure.....

That indicates a corrupted db on the device, the usual fix for it is to
log out and log in again on the Kobo which will cause it to rebuild the
database.
