Calibre error communicating with Kobo

Bug Description

Running Calibre V2.77 on Macbook air and get the following error message:

calibre, version 2.77.0
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

CantOpenError: unable to open database file

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 88, in run
  File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 506, in _books
  File "site-packages/calibre/devices/kobo/driver.py", line 1694, in books
  File "site-packages/calibre/devices/kobo/driver.py", line 161, in device_database_connection
CantOpenError: CantOpenError: unable to open database file

This is the first time I have tried connecting my Kobo to a MacBook, previously I used a PC Running Ubuntu

That indicates a corrupted db on the device, the usual fix for it is to
log out and log in again on the Kobo which will cause it to rebuild the
database.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Having logged the bug, I checked that the Kobo still connects to my Ubuntu
PC which it does. Uploaded books to the Kobo. Not sure.....
