after merging 2 books (hotkey M) focus is gone

Bug Description
When I merge 2 books with the hotkey M the focus is gone. E.g., I select 2 books, press M and then the 2 books are merged. Then I want to select the next pair of books using the cursor keys, but nothing happens. I first have to select the first book by clicking on it with the mouse before I can use the cursor-keys. I would like to see that after merging 2 books the focus would be on the merged book, so I don't need to switch from keyboard to mouse to keyboard.
Calibre version: 2.52.0 on Windows 7.
