Bug Description

Related to the forum post: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217385

Running OSX El Capitan & the latest version of calibre, the PDF metadata plugin calls pdftoppm & eats all my resources, same error and workaround as in the forum post.

Digging into the SC, I saw you require libpoppler.46.dylib, which I think is for poppler v0.26. Recently, they released v0.37 (http://poppler.freedesktop.org/) , which includes: "Fix crashes in malformed documents". Hopefully, this means an update should fix the PDF imports without having to disable the plugin.
