Bug Description
If I have posted this incorrectly as this forum, please direct me accordingly.
I don't believe Calibre was setup to store audiofiles, but I believe it can easily be utilized to do so as follows. I would just like some added abilities based on the current ones.
I've tested and noticed that I can import an .mp3 file via add book or add folder. An entry is then created for my audiobook or speech/lecture.
However, unlike with ebooks and such, I cannot DRAG AND DROP the .mp3 file into the book details field or the edit metadata window. This normally adds or replaces when done with books.
Could you set this to be allowed so that Calibre can be utilized to store audio files in this manner should the user wish thus avoiding extra navigating steps? I already have a good scheme for a record and management of audiobooks using Calibre, but I don't store them in Calibre.
This is simply to mix in speeches and lectures and possibly some audiobooks with associated texts whether the entry is unique to the audio file or the audio file is added to the ebook entry.
Currently, the only way I have found to add .mp3's is to either use the ADD FOLDER or ADD FILE features via the main interface or while in the Edit Metadata window.
NOTE: I have not tried with any other audio formats yet such as .amr and such although to get around to it. I just cannot comment on if they work like the .mp3 currently do.
This the the PRIMARY enhancement request using what is already there and adding what seems like a simple ability (i don't know the code...).
SECONDARY enhancement request if the above is possible: Allow the file formats for audio files to list under the 'Formats" in the tag browser.
A THIRD request though I'm not sure this is possible with your setup....Allow a SAVE TO DISK feature for audio files that allows users to copy the file with the naming scheme used when saving ebooks that way. This would allow as easy export of the file from Calibre with a FULL filename when desired as we can do with Save to Disk for ebooks . I can tell you from a teacher perspective, this type of storage and organization ability for lectures would be tremendous!! Calibre's features already lend themselves to this, but being able to organize and then copy/save an audiofile like this from within Calibre would be extremely efficient for a teacher to keep and share lectures.

I should have noted in my opening that I can drag and drop to create a new entry. It works then. It just doesn't drag and drop over the book details cover or into the file locations in the edit metadata window.
