Home made books are unreadable

Every time I edit a new book, especially when made from other a pdf such as free stories from writers, or after merging books, the books all become unreadable. I can't open them either in Calibre or in adobe Digital editions not in tablets.

Unreadable is a pretty vague description.

Do you have any specific problem? Or an example of what an unreadable conversion looks like? (hint, hint)

Keep in mind that conversion from PDF specifically, is going to be of variable quality, see:

As for other (non-PDF) ebooks having similar problems, all I can say at this point is that millions of people convert millions of ebooks without problems, if you are having problems you will need to share more information before anyone can help you.

Suggestion -- upload the original and converted ebooks here, as well as the conversion log.
If the book in question is under copyright, make sure to mark this bug as PRIVATE.
