Failure to create catalog

version 2.30 Windows 8.1

I am getting SerialisationError: IO_ENCODER when I create a epub catalog. The library is large. I have attempted to create catalogs with smaller parts of the library and they do not get errors. So I all the books are in at least one smaller successful catalogs.
From reading other bug reports, it looks like I have a malformed description. But I can not find out what eBook is causing the error.

I did some additional testing. I was able to create the catalog with first half of the data and create another catalog with the second half. So it looks like there is nothing wrong with the individual items.
I then created the full catalog with (1) descriptions and Genres, (2) description and Authors, (3) description and Series, descriptions and titles, & (4) descriptions, Authors, Genres. All 4 worked on the complete library.
I then tried to create a catalog with descriptions, titles, series, authors & Genres. That failed. So I suspect the failure has to do either with the size of the EPUB catalog or some combination of things in descriptions, titles, series, authors & Genres. that is causing the problem.
