Bug Description

Japanese is one of the Asian languages that is commonly written in books vertically and from right to left. Epub books in Japanese are displayed correctly in various readers. They are correctly displayed from right to left in Calibre; however, the characters are incorrectly rotated 90 degrees clockwise from the position they should be displayed.

For this to be remedied, the characters would need to be rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise and punctuation mark placement adjusted accordingly (e.g. parentheses are oriented horizontally).

Here is a blog review of Calibre which details the problem (at least you can see how the layout looks):

This is not worth the effort for me personally. If some one else wants to implement it, I will be happy to supply any needed guidance. If so, re-open the ticket and we can discuss it.

I don't understand how this is not worth the effort. For me it makes the ebook reader useless. Please fix this bug.
