error produced during "Edit metadata in bulk" for replacing a value

Bug Description
I selected a dozen files to change, selected Edit Metadata in Bulk:
Selected the Author_sort field : Current value "Nora Roberts"
Entered replace with value of: "Nora Roberts - JD Robb"
Test results equals "Nora Roberts - JD RobbvNora Roberts - JD RobbcNora Roberts - JD RobbvNora Roberts - JD RobbsNora Roberts - JD RobbdNora Roberts - JD Robb"
upon saving it replaces the the author_sort field with "Nora Roberts - JD RobbvNora Roberts - JD RobbcNora Roberts - JD RobbvNora Roberts - JD RobbsNora Roberts - JD RobbdNora Roberts - JD Robb"
values copied from the Edit Information screen
I've tried this on several sets of files, turned Calibre off and back on

regular expression mode) will replace the entire field.
