Feature Request: open library in read only mode

Hi,

I'm storing my books and database on my dropbox account. I'm managing the content, updates etc from my primary mac. On my laptop however, it would be great to open the library in a read-only mode, so I can browse and open the ebooks, but not make accidental changes which would corrupt the database.

I know there is some functionality in the content server, however this is more complicated to use when on the road, and not connected to my home network + the calibre application is more content rich, and easier to use.

Cheers and keep up the great work, Calibre is an excellent application.

I'm afraid this is not do-able for various technical reasons. The
assumption of write-ability is made in too many places in calibre's
core.
