Bug Description

Cover grid:

Ctrl-A (Select ALL),
deselect one or more
1. the count of the selected book in the bottom (status bar?) is not updated
2. changing to table view, the deselected books are still selected

btw.
marking all first in the table view and switch to cover view and deselect some, works.

Fixed in branch master. The fix will be in the next release. calibre is usually released every Friday.
