SMTP password with special characters not stored correctly

Bug Description

Calibre 0.9.39
Ubuntu 12.04.2 amd64

In the settings dialogue for e-mail sending i can configure a smtp host and set a password with special characters like "öäü" and send a test-mail correctly.

When I reopen the settings dialogue and display the password these umlaut-characters are garbled and I can't send an test-mail due to authentication-failure.

For the time being I can set a password without special chars but I wonder if anyone else is facing this problem???
