Fixed in branch lp:calibre. The fix will be in the next release. calibre is usually released every Friday.

having the same problem here with this slightly different device string.

This device is an MTP device. MTP is only supported in Windows
Vista and newer and Linux. If you are on Windows XP or OS X you
have to use a wireless connection method, as described in the link
below.

Or you can use the beta for the upcoming calibre 2.0 which add support
for MTP devices on os x.
