Bug Description
If not a technical bug, it certainly bugs functionality. Calibre is great and I have used it for the last two years or so. It keeps getting better but is there any good reason for not adding a comment highlighter to the ebook viewer. In so many ways Calibre is superior to everything elso out there except for this. For various reasons, I like to read and research directly from my desktop PC using Calibre's ebook viewer so that data collection and retrieval is combined.
As the ebook viewer has improved over time, I use it more and more for collecting research and save Kindles for reading fiction away from the desk.
Non-fiction materials, ebooks, and info collected off of the internet are exactly what, in my humble view, the ebook viewer is most useful for but at the same time it's less effective without the useful tools such as the text highlighter, and easier note comment method. I can understand why no one is in a hurry to develop these "amenities" for reading fiction, but who reads a novel sitting at their desk - well, if they're not sitting somewhere in a cubicle.
I know much emphasis is placed on developing plug-ins by users and I suppose this promotes a rugged techie individualism that no doubt discourages requests by yo-yo's for frivolous or even illegal addon's.
Yo-Yo or not, my techie skills barely hold their own, but I think my reasons for expanding this function to Calibre's ebook viewer for use with the desktop PC is reasonable and makes ebook/edata/
This is not worth the effort for me personally. If some one else wants to implement it, I will be happy to supply any needed guidance. If so, re-open the ticket and we can discuss it.
