Japanese titles rendered to Chinese phonetic alphabet

Calibre has many nice features, and one of them are to change file names and copy them to Calibre Library (in MacOS 10.7).
This works most of the time, but..

When the author name and titles are in Japanese, Calibre creates corresponding directly and file names in Chinese phonetic alphabets (ping ying). The title and author name are displayed in correct Japanese in the Calibre library window, so this only applies to the copied file in Calibre Library directory.

Not to change author name and title (from Japanese to Chinese) is important, because when I back up my Calibre Library directly, changing the file name makes it impossible to identify the contents via the file name.

My request is to keep the Japanese language title/author in Japanese in the Calibre Library.

Set the interface language in calibre Preferences -> Look & Feel to
Japanaese and the transliteration will be to Japanese.

Changing Look & Feel to Japanese changed the rendering into Japanese phonetics, but it is not always correct.
This is because Kanjis (Chinese characters) used in Japanese have multiple ways of reading. And only one is correct.
Calibre seems to pick up one of the multiple ways randomly.

Do the names of Calibre Library directories have to be written in alphabets?
If the names of the directories can be written in Japanese, the same way it is written in meta-data, it would be much nicer.

Just wanted to add that this has been bothering me for a long time as well. I have a lot of PDFs that I make available through the Content Server to my Android devices, and when I download a book the pdf title is transferred verbatim from the library with the same incorrect transliteration as in the library. This would be especially important since Calbire doesn't tag PDFs as it does ePubs when it makes the file avaialble for download to the clients.

Anyway, any chance of adding unicode support to the library structure in the future?

Also would like to add that as a native english speaker, I'd prefer for the interface to be in English so the option of changing the interface language doesn't work for me...
