Bug Description
The problems is web the mobi file pass through Calibre 0.8.55 (Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 versions).
When I add manually unmodified mobi books in a Kindle for Android (version 24/03/12 in a Galaxy Tab 7"), cover thumbnail is shown normally.
If the same files are opened in Calibre, changing some metadata (doing anything to the cover), save it and opened manually in Kindle for Android, then no cover thumbnails are shown. Conversion mobi to mobi don't solve anything. Conversion mobi to epub and opened in other ebook reader, covers thumbnails is shown normally.
If a epub book showing cover thumbnails normally is converted to mobi, the same: kindle for android doesn't show any cover thumbnail. Reseting all data/configuration in Kindle for android, change anything.
This is caused by a bug in the Amazon software. You can work around
it by re-converting the book, and enabling the "Enable sharing of
book content" option under MOBI Output in the conversion dialog.
You will also have to enable that option under Preferences->Output
Options->MOBI Output. Doing so will have other side effects, for
example, the books when sent to the Kindle Fire will show up in
the Docs collection rather than in Books. Cross devices last read
position syncing will not work, etc.
