Bug Description

With the update to the Kindle Ipad App 3.0.1 - sync to furthest read does not work anymore with sideloaded books on Ipad (ios 5.1.1).

In order to fix - the ASIN must now be set to match the ASIN from the Amazon Website.

As an example.

For Portait of A Spy by Daniel Silva.

Conversion to mobi using Calibre Version 0.8.54 (after updating metadata from Amazon) sets ASIN to b68c7e2d-745c-4fc4-ae7f-b0e0f8e696eb

This will not sync properly after being sideloading.

From here:
https://kindle.amazon.com/work/portrait-spy-daniel-silva/B004CRMN3Y/0062072188

The ASIN is B004CRMN3Y. After manually opening the mobi file in MobiMetaEditor and changing the ASIN to B004CRMN3Y - sideload and sync now works.

This is cumbersome for a bunch of books.

This is not going to happen in calibre. Amazon wants to force you to use their
personal documents service, for all your documents. They are gradually moving
to where all the add-on features like syncing and social will work only with
books you send through their personal document service.
I do not have the time/energy/interest in maintaining and supporting
hacks to get around that.
