Quick Browser Applet opens folder as well as file

Bug Description

 ============================================================================
        Cairo-Dock version : 3.4.0
        Compiled date : Oct 17 2014 09:05:35
        Built with GTK : 3.14
        Running with OpenGL: 1
 ============================================================================
NOTE: This issue only affects the KDE environment where the KDE Integration for cairo-dock is disabled using cairo-dock -e gnome.

The Quick Browser Applet opens the folder as well as selected file.

Although opening directories works as expected when opening a file from the Quick Browser applet it opens the file but also opens the directory where the file is located. This is in contrast to using the KDE Integration where only the file is opened (e.g. click on text file and it is handled by text editor).

Hi,
is it a bug you noticed after an update of the dock ?
I wonder if it could be related to using GTK 3.14

Good question - I have not been testing the Quick Browser Applet much in the past and to be honest it is difficult to say.

I'm on Arch at the moment and I can see I have a copy of 3.12. I will install this tomorrow and give it a go and report back.

nick (thedarkstuff) wrote :

I downgraded gtk3 from 3.14.4-1 to 3.12.2-1. The issue is still there and as started above it only happens when KDE Integration is disabled.

One thing I did not note originally is that the file manager is opening the file selected (with the preferred application via mime) and opening the actual file in the file manager.

I have attached a screenshot of how it looks.

I wonder, why is gvfs-open called ?
the dock only uses gio (which then may call gvfsd through Dbus)
what if you make gvfs-open unexecutable (sudo chmod -x /usr/bin/gvfs-open) ?

Removed execute permission from gvfs-open and the issue still occurs.

I can see by redirecting the error stream the following:

The Odd Behaviour still occurs using cairo-dock 3.4.1 via Linux Mint 18 KDE.
The "Quick-Preview" Applet as well as the "Folder" Applet still wont open the corresponding folders
