Bug Description

cairo dock v3.2.1 - with or without openGL

i am seeing that the dock hides when windows are placed on top of it and does not re-appear when it should according to the settings.
the other windows (e.g. thunderbird/firefox) are not set to 'stay on top' or any non-default setting.

i changed the hide setting in cairo to 'always on top' and the dock still did not appear on top of other windows..

changing theme does not resolve the issue.

i am using linux mint debian edition mate 64 bit - with update pack 7.
 with nvidia driver 304.88

Hi,
do you have some special configuration, like a double screen ?
or maybe the fake transparency is activated (you can check it in the
advanced configuration -> "System" tab)

can you try with another Window Manager, like Metacity (you may need to
install it, and then type "metacity --replace&"

i am using two screens, yes.
i just installed and activated metacity .. after reboot (due to crash
after activating metacity) the desktop has mostly reset and some
functions do not work as they should.

the cairo-dock hiding issue remains and the dock does not unhide.

i then reactivated marco using marco --replace
and saw:

Window manager warning: Missing composite extension required for
compositingglibtop: Non-standard uts for running kernel:
release 3.10-2-amd64=3.10.0 gives version code 199168

i have now uninstalled metacity and marco is loaded again ok.

'use compositing' is enabled in the os settings.

if i disable 'fake compositing' in cairo-dock settings then the black
bar appears with the cairo-dock.

i am fairly sure that cairo-dock did load ok initially, was hiding ok
and was composited correctly without 'fake compositing' after initial
install... possibly the nvidia driver was changed during the update pack
7 installation of lmde.

"if i disable 'fake compositing' in cairo-dock settings then the black bar
appears with the cairo-dock."
This is already not normal, if you enabled compositing in the system
settings.
This seems not related to the graphic drivers, since it's the same
with/witout opengl.

"i am fairly sure that cairo-dock did load ok initially, was hiding ok

install... possibly the nvidia driver was changed during the update pack
7 installation of lmde."
I think that indeed, testing on a clean install could be a good idea.
also, if you only use 1 screen, is it better ?

i just disabled the 2nd screen and the behavior of cairo-dock remained the same.
so far i have not found any way to change it through options presented in the various guis.
a clean install is not so possible presently as i am deep into some projects.
i'll see if i can find another way to stimulate some changes.
