Bug Description

I'm afraid that I cannot offer much in the way of details. There were no error messages that I could find. What happens is if you try and run the main program file "caffeine", it simply hangs and never does anything. If you launch it from a terminal no text is produced and nothing appears on the screen. The cursor simply "Freezes" where it is. The terminal window is not released until the process is killed.

If you launch the "Caffeine Indicator" program it shows up in the system tray but there are no options except for enable/disable or quit.

I need the ability to keep the screen awake when firefox is running. I don't want a manual toggle.

Primarily so that it doesn't shut off the screen in the middle of a youtube video. If there were a way it could detect that an HTML5 video was playing and keep the screen on then that would be even better.

I noticed in a screenshot that there is supposed to be an option for "detect flash" since nobody uses flash anymore maybe it could detect html5 video ?

Your description sounds as though caffeine and caffeine-indicator are working correctly and normally.

Firefox, or at least some sites such as YouTube, disable the screensaver automatically (that's one reason Caffeine no longer tries to do so). If it doesn't work on some sites, then run caffeine (it is designed to be run in the background, not in a terminal, e.g. at desktop startup), and then make your Firefox window full-screen.

See the documentation ("man caffeine" etc.) for more details.

Tried alternative 'Brightside' to stop xscreensaver using corner 'hotspot'... hotspot seems to 'activate', but xscreensaver STILL activates....
