bzr4j not handling nested repositories

Bug Description
bzr4j 2.6.1, PhpStorm 2.0
I have a project consisting of two nested respositories:
Project Root -> Main repository
Project Root/some/subdir -> Independent sub-repository
I have configured the VCS roots correctly via Settings -> Version Control. But nevertheless bzr4j handles all files from the sub-repository as not versioned.
No exception or error message is raised, the sub-repository is just not versioned according to bzr4j...
