I'm guessing you have an HTTP proxy, and it is interfering with our ability to talk to the Launchpad XMLRPC service.

This should be fixed in the 2.1 series, so I'm marking it as such.

affects: bzr-explorer → bzr
Changed in bzr:
milestone: none → 2.1.0b4
status: New → Fix Released

I upgraded, but still receive connect errors. My system is behind a proxy (which I configure see below) has "bzrlib 2.1.0". Should I conclude that I need bzrlib 2.1.0b4 to get this to work. Does that require the test release on the download page (it claims its version is 2.1.0rc1-2 which may or may not be related in any way to the versioning on bzlib)?

Unable to open lp:~epics-core/epics-base/cvs-trunk

Connection error: while sending POST /bazaar/:
(10060, 'Operation timed out')

I am a new user so its very likely that I don't know what I am doing, but its not clear from my perspective what I did wrong or how I might ever get this to work.

same connection error with 2.1.0rc1-2

What OS are you using ?

This sounds like the http_proxy environment variable is not taken into account.

Try adding -Dhttp to the failing command and look at ~/.bzr.log, there should be more information
regarding which host bzr is failing to connect to, including the proxy.

If you post some excerpts from .bzr.log in this bug report, be sure to anonymize them, especially the
Authorization and Proxy-authorization ones (don't delete them but replace their value with XXX,
they may contain your login/password in a weakly encrypted form).

Hi Vincent,

I am using Windows Vista 64. I did have the http_proxy env set, but just 5 minutes ago I discovered that one must also have https_proxy set correctly. I figured this out when I saw some other users mentioning that this is needed. So it works great now!

Sorry to have placed my comments here too quickly. This appears to be perhaps an issue only with the tutorials, or the context in the error message, although I don't claim to have read as much as I should have in the docs at this point.

Thanks very much for your quick response.
