bzr debbuild is erasing po directory leading to a 'E: munt source: not-using-po-debcon' error on building source package

trying to do 'bzr builddeb -- -S -us -uc .' on a dir with a debian/dir with a valid templates file and po dir, leads to this because the built source package does not contain the po dir although it does the template file.

using
debuild -S instead builds without the lintian error.
