Bug Description

I have Ubuntu 14.04 on an EeePC 901, with Byobu 5.77-0ubuntu1.2. As described in detail in Bug #1018538, any text I manage to select gets unselected within a second. If I can manage the whole sequence fast enough, copy is successful. Apt says my version is the latest available. I haven't dug any deeper, beyond searching the web and finding the 2012 bug which describes exactly what I experience. Would some of the "workarounds" mentioned there help?

I seem to remember the same problem with Byobu in Ubuntu 12.04, but I don't remember which version I had then. Whatever was automatically installed and updated by Apt-get.

What terminal are you using? I seem to recall that the source of this bug is related to how the terminal repaints.

I can tell you that I cannot reproduce this problem in gnome-terminal under Ubuntu 15.04 and byobu 5.92.

Changed in byobu:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Incomplete

Dustin,

About says Gnome-terminal 3.6.2.

Amazingly, it is working great right now! I don't remember ever being able to easily copy text from the terminal on this machine. Absolutely no idea what could be different, though I did install a huge batch of updates recently. Maybe the former cause got fixed?

If it comes back I'll explore and let you know!

Thanks for the reply,

Loren
