Bug Description

I use MC quite a bit and was looking to disable the byobu f-key bindings to be able to use the screen defaults. I ran into a few other bug reports that said toggle the keybindings using ctrl + a + ! would do the job. However, when I try that, all I get is this text printed in the currennt "window":

":source /usr/share/byobu/keybindings/f-keys.screen.disable" (with the starting ":")

A work around is mentioned here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/byobu/+bug/389129/comments/8 and Dustin asked that a new bug be opened. I couldn't find this new bug, and since the issue exists, I'm filing this one.

Thanks,
Ankur

Hi Ankur,

Thanks for filing. I'm not able to reproduce this in the latest Byobu (5.20) running on Ubuntu.

What version are you working with in Fedora right now?

Also, could you attach the contents of /usr/share/byobu/keybindings/f-keys* ?

Hi Dustin,

I'm using 5.17 (I'll file a bug requesting the maintainer to update):

byobu-5.17-1.fc17.noarch

Please find a tar of the /usr/share/byobu/keybindings attached.

Thanks,
Ankur

I'm sorry to comment on this old report, but I'm having the same issue.

When trying to disbale the function keys temporaryly through ctrl+a !, following error is shown

  $ :source /usr/share/byobu/keybindings/f-keys.screen.disable
  :source: command not found

The affected ubuntu version is current 14.04 with byobu 5.74 (Screen 4.01.00).

In addition, the script f-keys.screen.disable doesn't work either.:

$ source /usr/share/byobu/keybindings/f-keys.screen.disable
The program 'escape' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
