Bug Description

Since the upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 any version of skype I try to launch (statig, dynamic, from the repositories) will crash and this error message will appear if started from the command line:
 Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-open.c: 667: _dl_open: Assertion `_dl_debug_initialize (0, args.nsid)->r_state == RT_CONSISTENT' failed!

I have purged the packages and tried reinstalling them without success. Haven't tried much else.

regards myrtille

I'm getting the same error when launching Firefox 12. It starts, goes to my home page, then crashes with this error. I've tried creating a new profile, but that only changed how far firefox gets before crashing.

I'm getting the same error when i try and launch X3-Reunion.
The error changed to this from segfaults after i upgraded to the latest nvidia drivers for my graphics card. That's probably not much help.

(Actually, the graphics drivers are irrelevant. Sorry about that.)

Thalass, can you please tell me what your issue was? I arrived here because of getting this error while trying to launch X3:Reunion as well.

In X3:Reunion I get the game to work by deleting the following libraries from $X3/lib/lib1, so it takes the system provided ones

libSDL-1.2.so.0
libgcc_s.so.1
libm.so.6
libogg.so.0
libopenal.so.1
libsndfile.so.1
libstdc++.so.6
libz.so.1

Are people still seeing this (not counting the case of binaries shipping private copies of libraries)?

I'm still seeing this with skype (downloaded from the repositories of ubuntu). Not sure if that's "shipping private copies" or not. How would I check that?
