Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Oftentimes I find that when the tray notification icon appears, my mouse starts acting strangely. This seems to be only when I come back to my computer after it has shut down the monitor due to lack of activity.

So the two seems tied together: awakening the monitor and then trying to interact with the tray icon. Interacting with other things works fine until I try to interact with the tray icon.

The symptoms are that the mouse cursor continues to respond normally, but the tracking of it does not. When I right click in the middle of the screen, for example, the right click menu appears near the clock (top right). I move the cursor in the middle of the screen and tooltips appear over the clock and volume control.

Oftentimes after some waiting (~1 minute I suppose) mouse control seems to restore and I briefly see a dialogue about being unable to grab the mouse. Perhaps it is related to the remote control setting I have enabled for the desktop?

It all seems to hinge on launching update manager from the tray icon - and this crash has occurred exactly as this was happening.
