Bug Description

I can see subject only using Radiance theme. If switching to Ambiance, fonts are looking nice (at least i can't see any distortions). I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.

Could you perhaps take a second screenshot? It is easier to compare when there are two screenshots.

(At the moment I can see the Unity Panel, with blue-red aliasing typical of sub-pixel rendering).

Actually, i don't know what type of rendering it is, cuz nothing changes on panel when I change the type of rendering in gnome-tweak-tool.

When I switched to Radiance for the first time on my fresh install of Precise, I noticed this issue as well.

Adding another screenshot for comparison. You can clearly see the difference between font rendering in the Unity panel vs. the one used in window titles. It is most visible for the bold typeface when looking at the "m"s and "n"s.

The default Ambiance theme seems unaffected, but it may be a perception thing related to different colors.

It does look like a hinting problem, but how come it's only in the panel?
