If its simple to do, I would say yes. But if it's a little complex I would say maybe we should implement it in the dynamic tabbar widget and wait until that lands?

Thanks Dan, I've asked for help, since I'm not so sure of how simple it is, and then I'll let you know.

It is a bit complicated to make. We need to know Gtk.Notebook structure and get the tab bar but it is no time to take a look to the Gtk code :) status triaged, for now

Maybe lp:~tombeckmann/granite/granite-dynamic-notebook-gkt-based should be attached to this bug since it is a work-in-progress and our latest and greatest tab bar incarnation.

I don't think this is really relevant to launching Luna beta since it's a wish list and not a bug. Removing the luna beta milestone.

This is now invalid since for pantheon-terminal since it uses Granite for it's tab bar. Re-targeting to Granite.

Uhm.. well, dragging a window is a rather complex process between the windowmanager and X, and the tab bar DnD is a gtk internal. So it would probably require some dbus routines in gala and some gtk patches. Not sure if that's worth the effort since you can just drag the tabs between windows instead.

Hey Tom, I don't think he meant dragging a window *into* the tab bar to combine windows. That would be a bit crazy indeed xD

I think what he means is moving the window *by* the tab bar, like how you can do with the Toolbar.

That's what I thought as well, Dan.

Oh, I see :D
I was on it, but I experienced some conflicts with tab DnD, not sure if we can get this without breaking dragging tabs.

Granite's DynamicNotebook doesn't look draggable anymore IMO, so it should not be a problem.
