Remmina fullscreen mode does not work on Unity

Bug Description

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise), upgraded from Lucid LTS
Remmina 1.0.0-1ubuntu6

On unity, remmina does not go into fullscreen mode properly. The global menu on the top and dash bar on the left are still visible after pressing the full screen button. This happens when connecting to a RDP server (Windows 7) and the resolution set to the client resolution.

Other applications, such as evince, work in full screen mode.

WORKAROUND: Use gnome-session-flashback (Compiz).

Could this be due to bug 946388?
Do you still see this after updating to the latest compiz in precise?

This does appear to be a duplicate of bug 946388, however, I am still getting this behavior using latest compiz-core, unity, and remmina with VNC

@nturner The bug I originally reported disappeared with the compiz-upgrade. However, there are still usability issues with fullscreen Remmina, compiz and a dual monitor setting.

I'm trying to go full screen on my external monitor, and I'm experiencing this same bug in a fully update Ubuntu 13.10.

The dash panel and top-panel remain on top of a "full screened" Remmina.

Actually, it worked rather decently shortly after I submitted this post. I'll report back if i have further issues.

The only thing that is a little annoying, is that if you focus on Monitor 1, while full screen with Remmina on Monitor 2, the Unity panels overlay the previously full screen until you click focus back to Monitor 2.

This makes sense in one way, but is annoying in another. I wish there was some way to toggle that behavior on or off explicitly.

I've had this same problem. For now, I just use a work around. To work around:

1) Create a different type of connection besides VNC, I used SSH.
2) Connect to the SSH session, and go fullscreen. You'll notice it works correctly.
3) Start the VNC connection.
4) From fullscreen in the SSH session, move your mouse to the top of your screen and use the "Switch Tab Pages" button to toggle your VNC connection. This will maintain the correct fullscreen, but bring you to your VNC connection.

Jan, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue with the latest version of remmina in Precise, or a later version of Ubuntu?

If so, please execute the following via a terminal as it will gather necessary debugging information:
apport-collect 996639

Thank you for your understanding.

I can confirm this issue on 15.04. "Viewport fullscreen mode" doesn't work. However, you can somewhat workaround by selecting "scrolled fullscreen mode".

I am affected by the same issue on 16.04. The bug appears to be present only when the resolution of the local display and the remote one (the display where the vnc server is operating) are different. But I am not 100% sure about this. Toggling "scaled mode" seems to workaround the issue.
