Bug Description

Upgraded to Ubuntu 12.03 to find that squid was replaced by squid3. Squid has a different config file in /etc/squid3/squid.conf were as the old Squid was /etc/squid/squid.conf. Tried copying my old squid.conf overwriting squid3's squid.conf and apparently not compatible. :( I have my old config file still but it is useless to me until I can get the squid.conf to work with the new squid3. Thanks for breaking my proxy server. No hulu tonight.

Hi Brian

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug in Ubuntu.

As you state, the configuration options for squid3 are different to those for squid2. During the 12.04 development cycle we did review whether an automated upgrade of the configuration file was possible - but it was not.

Please see the release notes for 12.04 re manual migration of squid configuration:

Marking this bug as 'Invalid' as this is a know manual upgrade requirement.

Thanks
