Bug Description

MacBook Pro (Mac OS X Version 10.7.3) running Parallels Desktop virtual machine (Build 7.0.15094)
Mac: 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, 4GB RAM
Virtual machine: 1CPU, 768MB

Initial Ubuntu installed automatically from Parallels (11.04 Parallels ISO image), then upgraded to 11.10 (that worked), then attempted to further upgrade to 12.04 (that failed)
