Another sensible approach would be to copy the behaviour of gconf-editor: both Enter and Space open/collapse the directories. A simple but highly useful feature...

As I think it's better to keep an unique "bug" report for a same problem rather than opening a new one (versus in forums where it's often preferred to open a new thread rather than answering an old one), I post here.

Any news about this?
Would be really useful to allow us to use left and right arrow keys to open/close branches of the tree, I think too.
So I did a +1 for the number of people concerned by this thing. :)

I would like to start editing values with <Ret> or <F2> or <Space> or whatever, without needing to double click.

Is there really no way at all to navigate dconf-editor without a mouse? This seems like a bit of an accessibility problem, doesn't it? (also, it drives me crazy every single time I use the app)

I really need to be able to navigate through dconf editor with just a keyboard! Any progress on this?
My issue is that everytime I try to upgrade to kernel 4.x, my touchpad stops working properly. I can move the mouse, but can't click on anything. So after several failed fixes, I'm trying to use dconf editor to ensure that the touchpad is properly configured -- but I can't use dconf editor if I can't even navigate thru the menus without my touchpad! (By the way, I'm on the road right now, so I don't have access to any other mouse.)
