Having a hard time upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04. First a missing libc6 that stopped the upgrade after a few minutes, which I then fixed according to askubuntu.com/questions/21987 (basically using Live CD to copy the missing library), then, after restarting the upgrade with apt-get dist-upgrade, everything looked good for a long time, but then the above error regarding udftools. Was able to restart system without Live CD, but am getting a lot of errors and crashes of certain programs (I have clicked "yes" when asked to report so you should be getting everything).

Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in application being used by the package installation process. Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package again?
