Bug Description

As opensource graphics drivers slowly emerge for ARM systems (omap, tegra, samsung, ...) there is some need for a userspace driver for these early implementations of KMS kernel driver. E.g. a new KMS driver for the NVIDIA Tegra GPU is beeing developed on, but also most other graphics chips (also for x86 systems) provide a KMS kernel interface.

At http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-modesetting/ a very basic graphics driver for KMS is available. Please add a driver package (xf86-video-modesetting) to be able to support this basic interface.

If you need an additional reason to package this driver, you can take the fact that it would provide a better support for the Intel GMA500 (and GMA3650). For now it's supported via the framebuffer driver which allows only one screen with one fixed resolution and without any rotation. This new driver apparently removes these limits.
