Bug Description

If i open h.264 video with totem it doen't play it showing in properties that video have a 0x0 pixel resolution. Browsing scroller i can see that sound works. Parole,VLC works normaly.
This proble occures after upgradin to 12.04

have 2 different computers, on both broblem occurs after upgrading to 12.04

I have the same issue. Hard to discriminate which are the faulty files though. Some work fine, other have only sound, others don't work at all. All of them were reading fine in 11.10. What I see in the properties is that the "dimensions" property of the faulty videos is 0x0...

This is surely a bug in gstreamer. Pitivi can't open such videos either.

as i say in gnome bug thread, but parole is also based on gstreamer and it works

Represented in 12.10 Alpha 3 (Quantal) amd64.

According to gnome bug thread, bug is fixed in gstreamer git. I think at least quantal must be upgraded to git version...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Raring Ringtail.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please do steps 1 and 2 of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.
