Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/993757/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Same problem on my system with a new 12.04 install. Indicator-printers disappears from the panel after a while. Printer goes wild with inexplicable accesses. Prints a page or two and then won't print. I assume that it is the CUPS package that has the problem.

I can confirm this Bug - it's very annoying because printing is nearly impossible.
The Problem could be in the cups oder in the printer-driver-splix Package.

I have additional information. I have 2 different computers with install ubuntu 12.04 on it. Both have samsung ML-1640 plugged in. Both have identical bugs. On my home PC i solved problem with wireless router Zyxel Keenetic. I plugged in printer in router`s build in print-server. In ubuntu install a network-share printer. And all work fine.

Hi.

Finally i found some kind of solution.

In terminal print: sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

And add this: blacklist usblp

Restart.
