Installation of samba upgrade failed after I selected to keep my own smb.conf.

Hi Jan

Yes - I think that is the cause of the issue.

The nmbd upstart configuration uses testparm before it starts and if it exits with a non-zero exit status it stops the job from starting.

If you resolve the warning that should sort your install out.
