Bug Description

We have an issue with the website sending people looking to install Ubuntu Server for ARM on Marvell's Armada XP to the wrong place.

http://www.ubuntu.com/download/arm guides people to http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/release/ for ARM Server, which then doesn't have an image for Armada XP. We have a request to divert people from there to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/Server/Install which is our canonical location for ARM server install instructions, but this isn't in yet and even then it wouldn't be appropriate to take people looking to install ARM server to end up at cdimage.ubuntu.com in the first place, as the primary dev board is now Armada XP, which is netboot only so doesn't have a preinstall image.

Can http://www.ubuntu.com/download/arm be changed so that Desktop installers end up in http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/release/, but Server installers are sent straight to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/Server/Install?

This is all very confusing. Can some one help clear this up?

Desktop has no good instructions?

Server has everything on cdimage EXCEPT Marvell Armada? But all the server help is with the Marvell Armada board?

Why can't the Marvell downloads be put on cdimage AND there be help pages for BOTH desktop AND server?

This will make the www.ubuntu.com page very hard to make sense.

See https://docs.google.com/a/canonical.com/document/d/1whVU3DvB9j5k6Ed3UvLZCEN6BU-lZcow4ZefqKQqokg/edit for what I am trying to ammend.

Problem here is that Marvell Armada XP is NOT a preinstalled image, rather a netboot one. So it doesn't belong with the preinstalled images on the download page, it has its own page with other netboot images.

The sentence: For ARM hardware for which we do not ship preinstalled images, see ARM/Server/Install for detailed installation information.
has been added to: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/release/
so I think we're ok on server part of Download page.

What still needs to be done is to clean up the ARM desktop portion of links - I agree that where they are pointing isn't helpful (another click will take you to the right info, but you have to know to do so) - will clean this up later.

At the top level though:
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/arm

Read the installation instructions> only points to server.
This needs to be split up into:
    - read installation instructions for Desktop> --> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/OmapDesktopInstall
    - read installation instructions for Server> --> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/Server/Install

This needs web team help.

I've added the installation instructions for desktop to the ARM download page. Is there anything else we can help with right now?
