Bug Description

My desktop is being recognized as a laptop in displays.I have also noticed extremely high load averages in system monitor compared to 11.10.I dont know if these two things are related

Confirmed. Seems to be specific to the fglrx driver, which reports the DVI output names as "DFP1", "DFP2" in xrandr. This is unusual so gnome-control-center is probably misinterpreting those names to be a laptop display. But it's a desktop.

I don't think this bug is a duplicate of bug #970560. In fact robert doesn't say his monitor is seen as "laptop", but his Desktop, those big boxes we had in our home until some years ago, nowadays replaced by laptops :)

In fact i recently noticed that on two desktops (one is mine, the other is of a friend of mine) their monitor are seen as "laptop" instead of the real name of the monitor. In addiction to this I have to say that both computers have a NVIDIA graphic card, but I suspect this misbehavior is present also with ATI ones
