Bug Description

After a recent 12.04 update, Eclipse right-click menus and menu bar menus sometimes display as blank white. Re-triggering the menu can sometimes fix it for that instance. The incident rate is high and annoying. The problem also occurs with Eclipse just downloaded and installed from Eclipse.org into /opt/ instead of via apt.

I am experiencing this issue as well on Ubuntu 12.04 with Eclipse 3.7. I am using the Gnome Classic Environment.

Well in my case, I think I may have found a workaround. I installed CompizConfig Settings Manager. Inside the settings manager under Effects, I turned off "Enable Animations". So far my menus are all rendering without issue. Probably the Animation Selection could be modified to exclude only Eclipse from animations, but I'm happy enough without animations over all because things are faster.

For the ones who do want to keep animations for the rest of their OS, append

    & !(class=Eclipse & (type=PopupMenu | DropdownMenu))

to the second animation window match field.

Disabling animations did not fix my problem. Do I have to restart Eclipse or something?

Yes, disabling fixed it for me.
