Comments/Problems:

I have been using Ubuntu since 6.10 but I am a total noob when it comes to knowing anything about Ubuntu's internals; I am strictly a user.

Install goes flawlessly. But once the system is booted up and I have logged in, the display goes to trash at the point when the launch bar comes up on the left. Sometimes the entire screen goes to garbage, sometimes the garbage is only within the window that is opened by clicking on the launch icon. Any garbage that appears is permanent.

This problem also occurs when I am running 100% from the CD and not from the hard drive. I tried the CD on a different computer and it worked fine with no issues.

My MSI K96SGM-V motherboard uses the Nvidia MCP61 chipset, which incorporates the GeForce 6150SE.

I tried adding VGA=788 and fb=false to the boot options on the menu screen at startup, separately and together, and all they did was change the character of the garbage.

Meanwhile, I have reinstalled 11.10, which works great.

Thanks for your attention. looking forward to a future upgrade!
