eclipse fails to start

Repro:

1. set eclipse package up
2. start eclipse

Expected behavior: main window shows up and stuff

Actual behavior: splash screen shows up, then it hides and messagebox saying
> An error has occurred. See the log file
/home/andy/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_3.7.0_155965261/configuration/1335701503788.log.
pops up. I have that log file attached.

Eclipse and Ubuntu versions are quoted in apport report files.

Note: eclipse installation set up by downloading tarball from eclipse.org, starts and runs just fine.

To be clear: Eclipse installation set up by unpacking tarball from http://eclipse.org/ is not affected. Which makes me think this bug is ubuntu-specific.
