Mute / Unmute change Volume rather than Muted State

Bug Description
I'm using Gnome Do 0.8.5 on Ubuntu 12.04.
When I mute, it sets the volume very low (but not muted and still barely audible); when I unmute, it turns the volume up. Neither one toggles the muted state. Thus, if I use the Ubuntu GUI to mute it and then use Gnome Do's unmute, it will stay muted.
