Normally I would do dist-upgrade in a shell, first time trying this gui thing.

Disk space is a bit low,
   $ df -h
  Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
  /dev/sda8 22G 20G 872M 96% /
  ...

Not sure what's to be gained by submitting this bug, but I'm trying to follow the directions.

The terminal showed there was an error in /var/lib/dpkg/status, a blank line in value of field 'description'.
I will edit that blank line out and see if I can restart. The offending package is lexmark-inkjet-09-driver, non-free.

The process continued after deleting the blank line.

A dialog showed up:

Upgrade complete

The upgrade has completed but there were errors during the upgrade process.

removed package lexmark-inkjet-09-driver, but also had to edit the same blank line in /var/lib/dpkg/available before apt-get upgrade would continue

used various manual commands to proceed, including apt-get dist-upgrade. Seems to be working.
