[Latitude D520, SigmaTel STAC9200, Black SPDIF Out, Rear] No sound at all

Bug Description
All sounds worked fine initially after I upgraded to 12.04 But when I was checking out the sound properties in System Settings -I clicked on Digital Output S.DIF Built in (this seemed yo change some default) did the test speakers there -and no sounds came on in the test -and from then on my sound is gone

Please elaborate. You selected digital audio output. Do you have anything connected to that output? If not, can you not change back to analog? Does logging out/restarting not fix the issue?
