It seems that I'm having the same problems:
ALSA lib conf.c:3314:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_conf_pulse.so
ALSA lib pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default
Got signal 11 at 0x94 from 0xb771dab0
...when trying to launch Shadowgrounds.
Most of the games which used to work perfectly in 11.10 now wouldn't even start. I suppose the problem is connected with the library or something.

My guess is that you're both using 64-bit and wine is looking for a 32-bit version of the lib, so see if this command solves the problem:
sudo apt-get install libasound2-plugins:i386

Confirmed. It also fixed another problem with sound bytes that I hadn't been able to track. Thanks.
