Bug Description

I tried uninstalling kde-window-manager but then it does not start any window manager. In the system settings I can only choose KWin, so I have no idea of how to select kwin_gles as the default window manager.

Thanks in advance.
Rafa.

Quick recap.

We introduced -gles as testing package on all architectures. In 4.10 regular KWin can use EGL instead of GLX so that makes the testing use case obsolete. With that in mind the only use case for -gles at this point is on ARM so the package should be changed to only build on ARM.

Upstream mentions that the build system intentionally supports both kwin and kwin_gles, even on x86* systems. The reasoning behind it being that if GLX doesn't work then the user can use the GLES binary on x86 systems instead.

Should I go ahead and mark this as invalid then?

See original bug description... how is a user supposed to use the other binary?

Upstream says that they never managed to implement a GUI option.

Since I consider implementing the option to switch between kwin and kwin_gles an upstream issue, this bug should be reported upstream, which is why I am closing this bug as Invalid.
