skype crashes when webcam is tested in the Options screen

I have newly updated to 12.04-beta system with Logitech C910 webcam attached.
Skype-2.2.0.35 is installed. When I go to Options => Video Devices => Test, video shows up ok, but pressing close button doesn't stop video camera (blue light still up on the camera), and skype crashes shortly thereafter.

It may seem this is skype issue, but I know skype video works very well with many other cameras, and most likely this is video driver issue. Driver is supplied with Ubuntu.

I do not know if this worked with 11.10. But in 12.04 there is a clear issue.
And C910 is the about the top notch camera available today, Ubuntu should have no problem with it.

Can you please try your camera with cheese and refere if it is crashing again ?

Cheese doesn't work at all on my 12.04. Black screen on top, grayed out menu on the bottom. No matter what webcam I use.

I take back C910 part of this bug, skype has the same behavior with the older logitech webcam too.
I suspect this is because of this version of skype is beta.

I am not sure why skype beta version made it into the supposedly stable now Ubuntu 12.04. Doesn't Debian package distro specifically test packages for stability, and isn't supposed to let beta bersion into the stable OS?

skype is a very important app to be broken in any way on Ubuntu.

Hi, a new skype version 4.1.0.20.0-0ubuntu0.12.04.2 is available, could you please try if you still have the bug with the new version?
