Desktop Effects leaves blank gnome screen

Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When you click on "Enable Desktop Effects", the screen goes to a light color of brown, and the only thing that is visible is the mouse cursor. Ctrl+Alt+backspace does not reboot X in this mode.

I have the same problem on my Samsung x20 with i915 graphic card since i've update intel graphic driver. The updated one doesn't require i915 resolution to get 1400x1050 screen resolution...
